COLUMBUS — St John's Episcopal Church in Columbus invited all to receive ashes on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 14 in the parking lot of Brookshire Bros. in Columbus. After a regular Ash Wednesday service at noon inside the church on Travis Street, the church took the ashes to the streets.
During the two hours in the parking lot, they were able to serve 36 sisters and brothers who might otherwise have missed this tradition.
The Reverend Steven Tomlinson administered the ashes to folks with a prayer and lots of love.
