EAGLE LAKE – The City of Eagle Lake turned down a $6.8 million dollar project bid by Mercer Construction during a July 15 council meeting.

EAGLE LAKE — The City of Eagle Lake turned down a $6.8 million dollar project bid by Mercer Construction during a July 15 council meeting.

Mercer Construction came in at over $6.5 million dollars, substantially more than the $4.3 million dollars the city budgeted for the Bond Street and Utility Improvement Contract.

City Manager Tink Jackson was against moving too quickly and spending an extra $2.5 million dollars just to close a bid as soon as possible. The residents of Eagle Lake expressed their de- sire to get things fixed in Eagle Lake but may have a hard time digesting the extra amount on the Mercer Construction bid.
