La Grange football blasts Smithville

The La Grange High School football team now has a winning record for the 2024 season as they defeated Smithville High School last Friday by a fi nal score of 52-7. The Leopards go to 2-1 after the win and with the way the score was, it’s a very encouraging win. This team has always had an efficient offense under second-year head coach Kyle Cooper, it was just the de- fense that needed to be figured out. After only allowing seven points to Smithville and winning in blowout fashion while doing it, La Grange seems to be heading in a very positive direction.

The Leopards have great senior leadership at quarterback with Clayton Cooper and they also have a solid running game and receiving core. If the defense can continue to play like this, we could be looking at a La Grange team that could reach eight, nine, or even 10 wins. In only his second year at the helm, Cooper has this program off to a great start with two solid wins to begin the season.
