LA GRANGE — Every October, cooperatives across the nation come together to celebrate National Co-op Month, raising awareness of the cooperative business model—a trusted, community-driven approach that builds strong, resilient communities. Cooperatives provide essential services in industries such as agriculture, utilities, and finance, playing a vital role in enriching consumers' lives across the country. Beyond offering expanded choices to consumers, cooperatives boost the economic vitality of rural communities by improving infrastructure, supporting education, and creating jobs.

Fayette Electric Cooperative (FEC) and Colorado Valley Communications are prime examples of cooperatives that embody this mission, continuously serving and uplifting their communities. National Co-op Month is the perfect time for these two organizations to unite in efforts that drive local progress through the leadership of their employees and board members.

Just as the power lines and telephone lines connect homes and businesses in their service areas, the values of community and responsibility run through every decision FEC and Colorado Valley Communications make. In celebration of these shared values, the cooperatives hosted their 7th Annual Document Shred Day on Oct. 4.
