Sealy PD uses ALPR tech to bust car burglar

SEALY - The Sealy Police Department night shift found six vehicles in two different places that had been broken into and burglarized the night of April 1. Large quantities of tools were stolen. The next day, two more victims came forward to report their vehicles had been burglarized that night. Sealy PD CID investigators used video surveillance and Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) to identify a suspect. The suspect was attempting to sell stolen property online. Investigators posed as buyers and took the suspect into custody by undercover officers with the assistance of the Austin County SRT team. The suspect, Daryl Lewis Jr., 29, of Houston, was arrested on eight counts of burglary of a motor vehicle.
