Tri-county teams and athletes are taking their clubs to the high- est level as they've qualified for the UIL state golf tournament.
These teams in include Weimar in Class 2A (Taylor Smith, Samantha Lichnovsky, Cheyenne Booker, and Harley Thornhill) as well as Columbus in Class 3A (Thea Schobel, Katharine Burnett, Mady Garcia, Sydnie Shepard, and Madison McRae).
Individuals heading to state include Avery Nelius and Angie LeBouef, of Class 1A Round Top-Carmine.
These schools have made it to state golf before, whether it’s been as a team or if they’ve had individuals qualify, so these teams and players have an advantage going in as they know what it’s like to tee it up in a state tournament atmosphere.
The state tournament will be held in Austin, Monday, April 28 and Tuesday, April 29 with Columbus playing at Jimmy Clay Golf Course, Weimar playing at Lions Municipal Course, and Round Top-Carmine at Crystal Falls Golf Club.
