The Bluebonnet Master Gardener Association, in conjunction with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service team, is pleased to announce their eighth year of holding Kids’ Kamp in Austin, Colorado and Washington counties.
This Kamp is designed to be educational but fun, to build a lifelong interest in gardening, the earth, and our communities. Hands-on fun experiences highlight the Kamp week!
This year, the kids will get down and dirty with worms, experiment with the good, the bad and the ugly fungus that lives among us, learn about native, non-native, and the dreaded invasive plants, and design and paint their ceramic pot, and add a native plant.
There will also be clay crafts to decorate their home garden(s), unique art to frame and hang on the wall and daily snacks.
Kamp runs for three days, Tuesday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to noon on these dates:
• Washington County – June 3 to 5 at the Washington Co. Expo Sales Facility in Brenham
• Colorado County – June 10 to 12 at the Colorado County AgriLife building in Columbus
• Austin County – June 24 – 26 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church Annex- Fuchs Hall in Bellville.
• The cost is $35, plus processing fee per child.
Kids ranging from 10-13 years of age will be eligible to register for these three day Kamps but space is limited, so register early.
Kamp is staffed by volunteer Bluebonnet Master Gardeners and Interns.
Due to a conflict in scheduling facilities, Fayette County may not be able to accommodate the Kamp this year.
You can attend any county Kamp you want. There is no residency restriction!
