Amiah Guthrie named JR. Ambassador

COLUMBUS - The Colum - bus Chamber of Commerce an - nounced its 2025 scholarship re cipient and the chamber’s new JR.

Ambassador — Amiah Guthrie.

Eight outstanding applications were received. Each applicant was required to submit three 250-word minimum essays discussing the history of chambers of commerce, their thoughts on the role a chamber should play in their commu- nity, and their perspective on the importance of small businesses in the local economy.

A review team carefully evaluated each application and conducted interviews with every applicant.

It was a difficult decision, as each candidate demonstrated excellence throughout the process.

Guthrie, who will be a junior at Columbus High School this fall, stood out with her academ - ic achievements, community in - volvement, and inspiring goals.

She plans to study neuroscience at the University of Texas at Aus - tin. Throughout high school, she has been actively involved in the Science Club, Cheer, AVID (Ad vancement Via Individual Deter- mination), and has served as a li brary aide.

She volunteers in nursing homes, with youth cheerleaders, and in other youth sports programs.

As a peer tutor, she is passionate about helping “everyone shine in their most authentic selves.”

Her commitment to both academic and community growth continues with her planned involve- ment in Yearbook, National Honor Society (NHS), and Future Farm - ers of America (FFA) because she values “community-based activities and academic advancement.”

She is determined to graduate in the top 10 percent of the Columbus High School Class of 2027 and to earn a 4.5 GPA.

These are ambitious and admi- rable goals, and there is every con - fidence that she will achieve them. The Columbus Chamber of Com merce is thrilled to support her on this journey and looks forward to seeing all she will accomplish in the years ahead.
