SHINER — The Diocese of Victoria Office of Catholic Schools, in partnership with local Home & School Associations, on April 10, held their Saint Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton Awards at the Shiner Knights of Columbus Hall.
This year, St. Rose of Lima Catholic School is proudly recognized Joe Orsak. As a young teen and newly licensed auctioneer in 1980, he accepted the torch passed along by his father to be the auctioneer at the school’s largest fundraiser, Christmas Around The World.
While this event has evolved, he has remained constant, auctioneering for 45 consecutive years, in addition to many years at the St. Rose Parish Picnic and the School Gala.
This award is a small token of appreciation for the hours devoted and for his integral role in the success of the fundraisers.
Thanks was expressed to Orsak for keeping the crowds at the events engaged, entertained and bidding.
