SAN MARCOS — St. Rose of Lima Catholic School was blessed to have 11 students participate in the State Private School Interscholastic Association (PSIA) Academic Meet on April 12 at Texas State University in San Marcos.
PSIA provides an extracurricular academic program for private, parochial, charter, and home-school students in first through eighth grades.
This includes 20 skill categories, producing 62 grade-level appropriate contests: Art, Calculator Applications, Creative Writing, Dictionary Skills, Impromptu Speaking, Information Skills, Listening Skills, Maps, Graphs & Charts, Mathematics, Modern Oratory, Music Memory, Number Sense, One-Act Play, On-Site Drawing, Poetry/Prose Interpretation, Ready Writing, Science, Spelling, Storytelling, and Vocabulary.
Only the top two winners from each event at the District 6A meet advanced to compete at the State Meet.
Students were presented with either a medal or a ribbon for their accomplishments.
St. Rose State PSIA participants were Benjamin Sustr, Emileigh Divin, Micah Garcia, Brylee Stoever, Levi Johnson, Rylee Wright, Brynn Bubela, Charlotte Schmidt, Caroline Bartek, Reese Dusek and Weston Hollas.
