FLATONIA — Ray Miller Jr. will lead the City of Flatonia as city manager, according to a phone interview he had with the Banner Press Newspaper. As of press time, Miller stated that May 19 is the kick-off day for his official start as the Flatonia city manager.
Miller has an extensive background in city government that meets what a city seeks. He served as the city administrator for Thorndale for over three years and worked for the City of Georgetown in transportation planning, as well as being the director of public works. He was the director of building and development for the City of Lakeway and a rail planner for TxDot. Miller said he looks forward to serving Flatonia and wants to see how things are operating before he makes any hard and fast decisions. He will be looking at the budget, and while in Thorndale, Miller focused on preparing the city for growth.
Miller held the city manager position for Weimar for two years. A local boy, he has family in Dubina and Schulenburg. He graduated from Bishop Forest High and Texas State University, and is a member of the Schulenburg Knights of Columbus.
