SEGUIN — The Fayetteville High School baseball team defeated D’Hanis High School May 10 at Seguin High School Base- ball Field by a final score of 8-2. The Lions impressed with their bats throughout the entire game and also put on a strong pitching performance on the mound with a sturdy defense behind it. "We know them pretty well," said Fayetteville head coach Clint Jaeger on the matchup with D'Hanis. "We had an idea what we needed to do. Our guys pitched well, we played defense. Fayetteville took a 1-0 lead in their first at bat after a shot to the right field wall from Chance Konvicka. They scored another run in the same inning with Kon vicka stealing home on a pass ball. The Lions then made it 4-0 on a base hit to right from Schley that scored two, which was fol -
lowed by another pass ball to make it 5-0. D'Hanis answered in the bottom of the fifth inning on an infield hit, a stolen base, a walk, and a steal home on a throw to second to put it at 5-1. Fayetteville scored again in the next inning on a base hit to right from Lawson Fritsch with a walk and a steal leading up to it. Schley tallied one more RBI in the same inning on a knock to right, then the Lions made it 8-1 after a hit by pitch and a hit to right field from freshman Dylan Henneke. ning, then Fayetteville closed out the game with a ground out and two strikeouts to win it 8-2.
