EAGLE LAKE — At the recent meeting of Eagle Lake Noon Lions Club, the special speaker was Debora Shimek, RN, wife of Lions Club member Victor Shimek. Shimek is a Wesley Nurse, a faith-based community nurse who uses a holistic approach of mind, body and spirit to help citizens in Colorado County live a healthy lifestyle.
The programs and services she provides include Diabetic supplies and education, Referral assistance, Medication assistance, Blood pressure and glucose screenings and Food Pantry assistance. Shimek works out of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus, however, the Wesley Nurse program spans 80 sites throughout South Texas. Methodist Healthcare Ministries’ largest geographic outreach program.
