EAGLE LAKE - Aaliyah Dominiq Almanza, 24, of Eagle Lake will serve time in jail even after the jury rendered a sentencing of community supervision on April 22 in Colorado County.
Judge William D. Old, known for his stance on justice, determined that the
light sentence handed down was not enough. Old sentenced Almanza to serve
a 90-day sentence, spend Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter and July 16-18 of every year of her 10-year probationary period. Almanza could have faced up to 20 years in prison for the fatal crash she caused on July 17, 2022, that took the life of 8-year-old Tyler Joe Blair. Almanza admitted she was guilty and threw her self on the court and the Blair family, and asked for sympathy.
Almanza had a clean criminal record before the incident.
