Weimar PD arrests one with drugs and gun near school

WEIMAR — Weimar Police Department Sgt. Jason Ellis stopped a vehicle for speeding in a designated school zone in the 500 block of West Main in Weimar.

Ellis detected the smell of marijuana and had both the driver, identified as Aar on King, and a juvenile passenger exit the vehicle so he could do a probable cause search.

King jumped back in the vehicle and fled the scene at a high rate of speed. The juvenile passenger fled on foot toward the Weimar High School football field. Ellis pursued the fleeing vehicle on Highway 90 onto Interstate 10 westbound with speeds exceeding 100 mph.

King attempted to enter westbound traffic while traveling eastbound posing a significant danger to himself and other motorists.

Ellis successfully executed a tactical maneuver using his patrol vehicle and forced the suspect off the roadway and disabled the vehicle before any accidents happened due to the suspect’s disregard for human life.

Officer Jimmy Schneider and Schulen burg PD arrived on the scene to assist.

A search of the vehicle revealed nar- cotic's and a firearm. King suffered minor injuries from the impact. The juvenile was identified with no charges filed at this time.
