ROUND ROCK — The Fayetteville High School baseball team’s remarkable dynasty has continued as they captured the 2025 UIL State 1A Championship June 7 at Dell Diamond in Round Rock by defeating Gordon High School by a final score of 4-2. Both teams played a pretty balanced game, it was just that Fayetteville was able to put a few more runs on the board with their timely hitting. “The new format helped us out,” said Fayetteville head baseball coach Clint Jaeger. “We had to use both our top two pitchers in this game to get through it. It definitely helped us out. Gordon, they're a really good team. Tough. Team speed just unbelievable. Never say die. There's a lot of grit on that side. It wasn't easy. Just wanna give them credit for having a great season." Fayetteville senior shortstop Easton Jaeger had a huge game with two big hits for RBI’s and a clutch play in the field at shortstop by throwing out a runner at home, which earned him state championship game MVP as a result. “We’re a good group of kids," Jaeger said. "Best friends. All of us. We've grown up playing together and we worked extremely hard to get where we were." The Lions scored two runs in their first at bat with two base hits, a stolen base, a sacrifice fly, and an infield hit. Gordon responded in the bottom half of the inning with a hit by pitch, a balk by Fayetteville, and a base hit to right field to make it 2-1. Jaeger’s base hit to right field in the next inning made it 3-1 after a walk by Jack Winford and a stolen base. He then added another RBI hit to right field once again in the top of the fourth inning that followed another walk for Winford and a base hit to left field by senior Lawson Fritsch. Gordon was able to get a little rally going in the bottom of the seventh inning and scored a run on a grounder to the shortstop for an infield hit after a regular base hit and a fielder's choice out that advanced a runner to third. Fayetteville then settled down and sealed the game on a strikeout and a pop out to the catcher for the other two outs for the state championship win with a final score of 4-2.
