CGA June awards

The Columbus Garden Club June Community Beautification Award recipient was Columbus Wellness Center at 107 Schulz in Columbu. Native flowering shrubs and Mexican feathergrass create this spectac ular show of early summer color. Thanks to the team of four that manage the Wellness Center and the hospital's grounds, the birds, bees, and butterflies as well as passers-by enjoy butterfly bush, sotol, nar rowleaf zinnia, Henry Duelberg salvia, and dozens more native species. This expansive garden is proof that natives can be tamed to create a

stunning semi-formal landscape.

The Columbus Garden Club chose the home of Yvonne Barrow and John Mann at 313 Dewees in Columbus as its Yard of the Month of June. It is an idyllic small town America home with its craftsman cottage appeal and a yard full of old timey garden favorites and charming water features. The white picket fence is festooned with patriotic buntings for Memorial Day and Independence Day. A beautiful collection of birdhouses sit above well-tended plantings of knockout roses, magnolia, spider plants, agapanthus, and ferns shaded by towering oaks.
