Quick action stops gas leak evac

COLUMBUS - Construction work ers struck a gas line during excavation, causing a loss of gas to areas south of Interstate 10 and the Holiday Inn on the north side of I-10 in Columbus. The Columbus Community Hospital and other medical buildings did not suffer a loss of gas or the potential for major damage because of the incident.

The gas leak occurred on June 20 about 11:30 a.m. on Shult Drive in Co -

lumbus, where the hospital and other medical buildings are located. The Colo- rado County Office of Emergency Man agement, Columbus VFD and Colorado County EMS responded to the gas leak. Streets were closed during the repair of the leak.
