Vets come up short

WEIMAR — The Weimar Vets hosted the New Ulm Firemen on June 29 at Strickland Field in Weimar.

A hard fought close game resulted in a 3-1, 10 inning loss.

Offensive leaders were Kyle Pesl- single, double, RBI; Carson Pesl- three BB, run scored; Mark Revilla- single, BB; Alex Angerstein- single, BB; Kyle Barish- HBP, BB; Cody Pfeffer- BB. Defensive standouts were Carson Pesl, Alex Angerstein, Mark Revilla, and Kyle Pesl caught all 10 innings. A good pitching performance by all. Trevor Brown- four innings, six strikeouts, 0 runs; Cody Pfeffer- 5 1/3 innings, two strikeouts, 0 runs.

Eleven runners left on base and two unearned runs cost the vets coming out on top.

Vets Coach Larry “Bear” Kana said, “Thanks for the great fan support. Thanks to Tom Strickland and Mike Koeth for getting the field in playing shape after the rain before game time. Thanks to Jakob Rehak for announcing and keeping the scoreboard. Also umpires Arthur Delgado and Randy Nuendorff.”
