Weimar Vets drop a close one

WEIMAR — The suspended game with Flatonia was played July 15 at Strickland Field in Weimar.

The Vets took the lead in the sixth.

A six run inning in the top of the eighth by Flatonia led to a fi nal score of a 7-4 defeat.

For the Vets offensive, errors and lob’s hurt the chances of a win.

Pitching was excellent despite the final score.

Huxton Kloesel-2 scoreless, 2 strikeouts, 0 earned runs (had to go out due to an injury); Cody Barrett-6 innings, 6 strikeouts, only 2 earned runs; Carson Peschel-0 runs, 0 hits.

Offensive leaders were Carson Peschel-run scored, base hit; Brady Henke-base hit, run scored; Kyle Peschel-double; Cole Raspberry-walk, run scored; Cody Barrett-walk, run scored.

Defensive standouts were Ryan Rerich, Larson Peschel, Cole Rasberry and Kyle Peschel.

Vets Coach Larry “Bear” Kana said, “Thanks as always to Zoey and Claire for taking care of the field and Mike Koerth, Kayne Williamson for keeping the scoreboard and Jakob Rehak for announcing.”
