LA GRANGE – Transitional planning is a daunting task to navigate as families begin to plan for the next generation with a focus on preservation of family land and assets, establishing trusts, writing wills, and navigating probate.
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Fayette County is proud to offer an opportunity for those with an interest in preparing for the future to join us on Wednesday, Aug. 20, for the Preserving Family Heritage – Estate and Legal Planning Seminar.
The seminar will be held at the Fayette County Extension Office at 255 Svoboda Ln. in La Grange.
Registration is at 8 a.m. The program will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Presentations throughout the seminar will focus on: Overview of Estate and Transition Planning, Business Entities, Trusts, and More, and Understanding Probate and Alternative to Probate. A trio of multi-generational agriculturalists and attorneys focusing on agricultural issues will provide presentations and be available to visit with attendees throughout the seminar. Tiffany Dowell Lashmet currently serves as the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Agricultural Law Specialist based in Amarillo and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with attendees. Audra Rod Smith, attorney at law in El Campo, represents farmers, ranchers, and other rural Americans will discuss the probate process and alternatives. Laura Martinez, senior relationship manager with Capital Farm Credit, will cover financial planning and documents.
A lunch meal will be provided thanks to the generous support from Fayette Savings Bank and Capital Farm Credit.
Interested attendees may also visit the Fayette County Extension Office to register for the event.
Preregistration is $30/person ($32 credit card) on or before Friday, Aug. 15, and onsite registration is $40/person ($42 credit card). Checks can be made payable to the Leadership Advisory Board and delivered to the Fayette County Extension Office.
The registration fee includes a meal, conference proceedings, and refreshments throughout the seminar.
