Former NFL tight end Matt Schobel has been at the helm for his alma mater for many years now and he’s had a lot of success, even winning the state championship last year in blowout fashion for Columbus High School. The 2024 team only lost one game and pretty much blew out all the teams they played in their wins.
Schobel had a successful NFL career and now takes all the pride in coaching at Columbus. He obviously loves where he grew up and has his athletes playing great football. He also had the luxury of coaching his son, Adam Schobel, who was on that state championship team as the quarterback.
Columbus has athletes as well, but Schobel keeps them in line and makes sure they play his brand of football, which is tough, gritty, and having a lot more points on the scoreboard than the other team by the end of the game.
