BELLVILLE — The Backto- School Health Fair hosted in July at Bellville High School welcomed 555 children, parents and vendors. The event focused on preparing students for a successful school year.
Thanks to the generous support of the Bellville Lions Club, WoodmenLife of Sealy, and CJ’s Tax Service of Bellville, the event was a great success.
The fair was a collaborative effort between the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Austin County, the Department of State Health Services of Austin County, and the Austin County Family and Consumer Sciences Advisory Board.
A major highlight of the day was distributing 378 backpacks filled with essential school sup plies to students from Austin County schools and Met Head Start.
In addition to school readiness, the fair provided families access to a wide range of free health screenings and community resources, with 39 representatives from 23 agencies available to help.
The event aimed to build a sense of community, promote wellness, and close gaps to ensure every child starts the school year prepared and confident, re -
gardless of financial situation.
