Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that around 2:31 a.m. on Aug. 2, Deputy Cody Williams attempted to stop a black Mercedes on Interstate- 10 near the 672 mile marker westbound for a traffic violation.

The vehicle tried to evade the deputy when the deputy activated the lights and sirens.

A chase continued westbound on I-10 as a DPS trooper set up spike strips at the 628-mile marker, successfully puncturing the tires and stopping the vehi- cle. The female driver, identified as Jasmine Nicole Ybarra, 25, of San Antonio, was taken into custody for evading arrest with a vehicle, delivering marijuana, and possessing a controlled substance. A male in the vehicle was identified as James Cortney Dean, 29, also of San Antonio.

Assisting with the pursuit were Schulenburg P.D. Officer Bryan Powe, Gonzales County deputies, DPS troopers, and Fayette County Deputy Jose Mosqueda. The driver was jailed and the male passenger was released pending charges.
