BELLVILLE - Bellville Police Chief Jason Smalley tendered his resignation as police chief after serving 22 years with the City of Bellville.

Smalley’s resignation will take effect on Aug. 31. He will continue in law enforcement as he begins a new chapter in his career working with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

He feels a sense of fulfillment after achieving his goals, such as a new police department building, expanded patrol positions, establishing a K-9 unit, increasing officer wages, and introduc ing new law enforcement technologies— all with the support of a dedicated mayor and council.
