BELLVILLE — The Bellville High School volleyball team won a close match with Floresville High School Sept. 2 at Brahmas Gym in a five set win with the Brahmanettes fighting all the way through for the duration of the match to eventually come out with the victory.

“We lost our libero and had to make some changes,” said Bellville head volleyball coach Susan Brewer. “That threw us off for a bit. Leah Lischka stepped in and did a nice job. We also had our best defensive specialist out, so passing was a bit rough. They are a good team.

We were glad to win with the adjustments.

Bellville sophomore Kinleigh Dinges had some big kills throughout the match.

"In a five set match as an outside, you must always keep your composure, stay aggressive, and don’t be a tentative player.”

After two close sets, the third set was back and forth and could’ve went either way, but Bellville was able to get the last laugh and win the set 2523 with a kill to win it, as well as a bunch more kills, including one from Dinges in crunch time to secure the set.

In a very similar fourth set, Floresville took a little bigger of a lead with a 21-17 advantage on a kill and mishit from the Brahmanettes.

Bellville was able to fight back and put it within two at 22-20 on a ball out of bounds, then a couple kills and a ball in the net from Bellville for the final point won Flo -

resville the set 25-23.

The fifth set was close as well, but more to an advantage for Bellville with their ability to grab early points and take a 9-4 lead after a kill.

The Brahmanettes kept this same kind of lead for the remainder of the set with a few mistakes from the Lady Tigers and eventually made it 14-10 with another big kill from Dinges. They would go on to win the set with a game and set-winning kill from Dinges at 15-12.
