Rice Coach Noel Lopez passed away in a tragic vehicle accident the morning of Sept. 20 near Columbus.
Rice CISD Supertendent Kenny Center stated “Lopez dedicated over 30 years to educating, inspiring and supporting students, collegues and communities in his career. While this is Coach Lopez’s first year as a Rice Raider, he has already made a lasting impact on his students and was fully invested in the Raider Family.
We extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to his family, friends and all who were touched by his life and work.
As a commuity, we honor his legacy and the lasting contributions made to not only Rice CISD, but to all school districts he made a contribution to.”
There will be a public viewing/visitation Sunday, Sept. 28 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City.
Services will be held Monday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City. There will be a final ‘ride’ with his biker club around town, then return to the funeral home for concluding remarks followed by a luncheon.
All are welcome to attend.
