The Columbus High School football team traveled to Bellville High School in an area matchup and picked up a huge win against a really good Bellville team by a final score of 20-7.
These are two teams that made it to the state champi-onship game in the last two years with Bellville coming up just short in 2023 and Columbus winning their first ever state title in 2024.
Columbus running back Brennan Hicks ran for 41 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries and Kash Wilbert made a huge interception and returned it for a touchdown.
Bellville didn’t score until the third quarter and was held scoreless in the fourth quarter while Columbus was able to seal the victory with 13 points in the fourth quarter.
This is a matchup that could’ve gone either way and win or lose, these are two teams that will be in state title contention throughout the rest of the season.
