CVQG awards two above and beyond awards

LA GRANGE — At Colorado Valley Quilt Guild's (CVQG) September meeting, the guild had a tied vote on two deserving women who have given themselves to the guild 'above and beyond' the call of duty.

Jo Anne Hill is the recipient of one of these awards. She is a charter member and has served on numerous committees, quilt show committees and has held several appointed offices.

At one time, she collected quilt blocks from guild members and had enough blocks to make two quilts for the Fayette Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for their raffle. She has helped bring art quilts to the quilt show and is an inspiration to the guild members.

Hill is also a docent at the Texas Quilt Museum.

Pat Scherer is the second recipient of this prestigious award. She has held several positions in the guild. She was the guild president and show chair for our BLQS.

She is often called 'Pat Awesome Scherer' by the guild. She is always friendly and knowledgeable of the inner workings of the guild. Scherer is a great resource to new members and officers and as someone once said, 'She is involved in everything guild.'

The guild expressed their congratulations to these two fantastic women for their time and patience in making the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild the organization it is today.

Jo Anne Hill, left, receives a co-award for going above and beyond her volunteer duties for the CVQG, along with Pat Scherer, the other above and beyond award winner, during the regular meeting in La Grange.
