Parents as Teachers of Rural South-Central Texas welcomes new executive director

SCHULENBURG — Parents as Teachers of Rural South-Central Texas (PATRSCTX) announces the appointment of Kristi McBride as its new executive director, effective Oct. 1.

McBride, a respected educator and community leader, brings more than a decade of leadership experience in schools, curriculum, and community programs. She served as principal of Schulenburg Elementary School from 2020–2023 and also held roles as director of curriculum, instructional technologist, and administrative specialist with Schulenburg Independent School District. Recently, she managed operations at Banks Farm & Ranch. In 2022, the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce honored her as Citizen of the Year for her service and commitment to the community. McBride will help guide a staff which provides families with education, developmental resources, and connections to community services from pregnancy through kindergarten entry.

“Kristi brings the perfect mix of educational expertise, organizational management, and community commitment,” said Jesus Martinez, board president. “Her leadership, alongside Karen and Josue, ensures a bright future for PATRSCTX.”

McBride is deeply rooted in community service. She held leadership roles with the Schulenburg Lions Club, Little League, and Junior Hoops. She serves with Tri-County Aggie Moms and the Schulenburg PTO. Her involvement in these organizations highlights her dedication to building strong connections and supporting families both inside and outside the classroom.

McBride, holds a master of education in educational administration and a bachelor of science in computer engineering technology, said she is honored to step into this role at such a pivotal time. “Accepting this position feels like stepping into something deeply meaningful, as our three children were participants in the PAT program,” said McBride. “This is not just a position, it is a partnership with our communities, rooted in trust and mutual growth. I am incredibly excited and grateful. In a place where everyone knows your name, your role becomes personal, and that makes the work we do even more powerful. I am looking forward to learning as much as I teach and helping build strong foundations for our communities’ youngest learners.”
