Valor Prep gets revenge on Faith Academy Knights in rematch of last years all-time high scoring game

The Faith Academy Knights travelled to Waco for a contest with Valor Prep Oct. 3.

This game was a rematch of last year’s record- setting game, where the Knights would set the All-Time scoring record, winning 148-112.

This year’s game wasn’t quite as high, and Valor got their revenge, winning 78-34. Faith was led once again by standout junior QB Dyllan Olivares. He continued to make plays with his allusive escapes and finding receivers down the field. He would finish the contest, going 18/29 with 292 yards and 3 TDs. He also added his first rushing TD of the season on a 6-yard scramble. Two of his TDs were to senior Josh Stark whom he connected with from 8 yards and 42 yards. His third TD was to sophomore Brody August, on another one of those exciting scrambles, connecting for 16 yards.

Senior Jackson Dunn would also have a great game, both rushing and receiving. He had six carries for 43 yards and a 19yard TD, for the Knights’ first TD of the game. Receiving, he had four big receptions, for 84 yards, including an ESPN-esk one-handed catch on the Valor sideline.

Stark would also carry a huge load in the rushing department, having 17 carries for 129 yards and 5 rushes of 15 yards or more.

Junior Wyatt Davis added 3 carries for 37 yards, including an impressive 25-yard scamper, before being pushed out at the 2-yard line. Davis added 3 receptions for 39 yards from the Tight End spot.

Offensively, the Knights racked up 568 total yards, but costly penalties in the red zone prohibited the Knights from punching into the end zone on numerous occasions. Defensively, the Knights struggled to cover five top-notch receivers from Valor Prep. Leading the Knights in tackles was sophomore Michael Satterwhite with 11 tackles. He ultimately came out of the game in the third quarter with a shoulder injury.

Also helping the team in tackles were senior Gage Wilson and junior Kelton Galle with 8 tackles apiece. Davis and Stark added 7 tackles each. Dunn added pressure on the QB with 4 Qb-hurries and 5 tackles.

The Knights struggled to keep Valor’s high-flying attack off the field, as have every other team they’ve played.

The Knights go into their bye week during the fair and return to start their district schedule.

They will host rivals Kingwood Covenant in the ultimate district championship matchup on Friday, Oct. 17.

We have to hold our blocks longer for our ball-carries. Olivares is playing outstandingly and making all the right decisions and audibles; we just have to protect them to put points on the board. Defensively, we have to stick to our keys and tackle better. That will be an emphasis going into district play.

These games pre-district are to get us ready for district and a playoff run. We will have them ready.

The Knights will look to push forward to make that run to show how tough they are, mentally and physically. Come out and support, catch a game, and bring that high-energy spirit to the community. GOT TO HAVE FAITH!!!
