SCARECROW FUN RUN PLANNED
WINCHESTER — Join the Winchester Area Civic Association (WACA) on Saturday, Oct. 18 beginning at 8:30 a.m. for the 2nd Annual Scarecrow Scholarship Fun Run. Register online at WinchesterTX. org. Come out to Winchester and enjoy a perfect fall run with the whole family. Enjoy scarecrows along the route and compete for the best scarecrow costume. All funds benefit the WACA Scholarship Fund.
ST. ANTHONY TO HOLD PARISH PICNIC
COLUMBUS — St. Anthony Catholic Church will hold its annual parish picnic Sunday, Oct. 12 at Columbus Hall in Columbus. A fried chicken and sausage meal will be served at $14 per plate, drive-thru 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and dine in 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The big country auction will start at 1 p.m. Silent auction will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Other activities incluce bingo, plant walk, gift card walk, sportsman’s wheel, cake walk and country store. Other activities are kid's games, fish pond, cookie monster, kids’ can draw and ring toss. Music throughout the day will be provided by Donnie Wavra and The Hi-Lighters. Tickets for a drawing at $10 each or six for $50 can be purchased from any parishioner or call the church office at 979-732-2562. PARISH FALL FESTIVAL TO BE HELD
EAGLE LAKE — The Parish of the Nativity in Eagle Lake will hold its annual Fall Festival Sunday, Oct.
19. Eucharist in spanish will be at 8 a.m. and english at 10 a.m. The barbecue chicken and sausage meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at $14 per plate (curb service will be available). A live auction will begin at 1 p.m. Other activities include drawing after the auction, food booths, cake and plant walks, country store, kids games and soccer tournament.
HOLY CROSS BAZAAR SLATED
EAST BERNARD — The Holy Cross Parish in East Bernard will hold a bazaar Sunday, Oct. 12 at the Riverside Hall in East Bernard. The barbecue beef, chicken and sausage meal with homemade dressing will be served inside at 11 a.m. and drive-thru plates available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hamburgers will be served at 3 p.m. The event will include indoor and outdoor games from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will also be plenty of pastries, refreshments and country store items. LGVF TO HOLD FUNDRAISER LA GRANGE — The La Grange Volunteer Fire Department (LGVF) will hold its 40th annual fundraiser benefit fish fry, drive thru only, Sunday, Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the KC Hall in La Grange. The cost of the meal is a free will donation. The event is co-sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and proceeds will go toward the purchase of new equipment.

LA GRANGE CLEAN UP DAYS SET LA GRANGE — The City of La Grange has desig- nated Friday, Oct. 10 to Friday, Oct. 17 as Fall Clean up Days. The City will pick up one free load of brush during these days. One load of brush is defined as not more than one pickup truck load. If you have logs, separate them from the branches. Also, make sure there is no trash, no piles of leaves, no lumber, or construction debris mixed in with the brush. The following schedule will be observed: Oct. 10 and 14 - south side of the city (Travis Street - Highway 71 Bus.); Oct. 15 and 16 - north side of the city; Oct. 17 - Cedar Creek and bypass. SENIORS TOGETHER SCHEDULE Seniors Together, a place for senior’s, 55 years or older to socialize with others is held every first and third Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Lighthouse Fellowship Hall at 201 Veteran’s Dr. in Columbus. and at the Weimar Civic Center in Weimar on the second and fourth Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The events includes card games, board games, Bingo with prizes, coffee and tea, movies, lunch provided, educational speakers, field trips including trips to casinos and social gathering.
