ROUND TOP — A tinge of fall is in the air and it’s again time to celebrate OktoBierFest at the historic Round Top Schuetzen Verein on Saturday, Oct. 25. Festivities begin early, at 11 a.m., with the Round Top Brass Band taking center stage. Meanwhile, the smell of freshly cooked sausage, grilled kassler rippchen, a German-style smoked pork chop, wienerschnitzel, sauerkraut and much more is in the fresh morning air.
The kegs have been tapped for frühschoppen (early drinking) to complement the traditional array of German food.
The entertainment stage will feature Auf Geht’s, a Bavarian-style party band from Houston, our local renowned Yodeler from Frelsburg, Jason Keepers and his Enzian Buam (Boys) and of course the Round Top Brass Band, 18 members strong!
Music will be non-stop until 6 p.m. and of course, the food will be available all day.
Scheduled at noon is the ever-popular tapping of the ceremonial keg, to officially open the festivities and at 3 p.m. the Masskrugstemmen (Stein Holding) contest for the guys as well as the gals will be held. Also on hand will be the Saufmaschine (drinking machine), which is also a fun activity.
The Round Top Antiques Fair will have closed the week before, so no traf- fic issues are expected!!
The entire event is sponsored by the Round Top Ri- fle Association also known as Schuetzen Verein in Round Top.
All are invited to experience a true, Bavarian-style Oktoberfest right here at home!! Prost!!
