The Westside Narcotics Task Force (HIDTA) conducted an operation on Oct. 3 that resulted in a large amount of illegal narcotics being seized. During the course of the investigation, the WNTF, working jointly with the Houston Police Department Narcotics Division, interdicted approximately 6,500 pounds of illegal THC products at a shipping facility in Waller.
The seized packages contained illegal THC edibles, vape cartridges, and liquids. Some of the seized illegal THC packages were portrayed to look like candy or snacks. A large majority of the packages were vacuum sealed by the traffickers as an attempt to hide the smell of the narcotics from law enforcement K-9s. The investigation is active and ongoing at this time. The Waller County Sheriff's Office K-9 Division, including K-9 “Dennis” and the Austin County Sheriff's Office SIU Division, were also part of the operation.
