Dave Socha named Weimar police chief
Dave Socha, center, recently joined the Weimar Police Department as police chief. He comes equipped with training in budgeting, management and leadership. Weimar City Manager Don Dixon joins Weimar Municipal Judge Linda Kobersky, to swear in Socha to his new position.

WEIMAR — Dave Socha, 55, has been named the new police chief of Weimar.

Socha is a Fayetteville native with over 30 years of law enforcement service with the Austin Police Department (APD).

Socha served in and supervised specialized units within APD. He rose through patrol services, detective of the gang unit, undercover narcotics, burglary, SWAT, organized crime, K-9 and drone units. He retired from APD as a Lieutenant.

Socha said, “ I’m honored to work in a community that feels like home. I look forward to building strong relationships with our residents and working side by side to keep Weimar a safe, welcoming place for all.”
