GONZALES — The Columbus High School volleyball team faced off against Marion High School in a playoff matchup Nov. 4 at Gonzales ISD and won in three sets by a final score of 25-19, 25-18, 25-13.

“We know moving forward that every round is going to be more and more challenging," said Columbus head volleyball coach Kayley Johns. “Marion is a great team. Put up a great fight, had really good offense coming at us and we had to adjust on our defense a little bit.
We started a little rusty. Made a few too many mistakes in the first set, but we definitely set tled in like we needed to. It’s really good to see them settle in and accomplish our goals to keep moving on."
Lady Cardinals senior outside hitter Gracie Schobel had eight kills for the game and was really productive on offense.
“You just have to be able to step up and be there for the younger ones to mentor them, to show them what to do,"
Gracie Schobel said. “Just be
a good mentor, be there, help them out, cheer for them when they do something good. Build them up so it would make a better atmosphere for the team."
