WINCHESTER — The Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a call on Nov. 6 at about 1:45 p.m. of a severely injured man on a homeowner’s porch. Deputies Wesly Arrison and Joe Gonzales arrived and located a male victim, 21, who was covered in blood and had a gunshot wound. The sheriff’s department and the Texas Rangers launched an investigation, which led to the suspect, Norman Robert Hicks, 20, being identified as the shooter. Hicks is also a resident of the Clear Lake Pines Subdivision. The shooting incident appears to be from a robbery.
A search warrant was executed on Nov. 7 by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Austin County Special Response Team. The suspect was not at the residence. However, Hicks was later located and arrested at a residence in Winchester. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated robbery and tampering with physical evidence.
The victim was transported to Austin medical facilities, where he is listed in critical condition at this time.
