Texas High School Coaches Association announces Walmart Academic All-State Teams

San Marcos — The Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) and Walmart announce the 2025-26 Academic All-State Teams for Cross Country and Team Tennis from the tai-county area. The Academic All-State Award honors senior student- athletes who demonstrate exceptional commitment both in the classroom and in competition.

As one of THSCA’s

most prestigious honors, this award recognizes students from fourteen differ- ent U.I.L. sports, who excel in three categories: GPA, class rank, and ACT/SAT performance. To be eligible for nomi- nation, an athlete must meet the following criteria: • An athlete, stu dent trainer or manager in good standing with the team

• Of good moral character

• A Senior

• Have an overall grade point average of 92 or above These honorees represent the spirit of dedica- tion, discipline, and deter mination that THSCA and Walmart work to encourage in students across the state.

CROSS COUNTRY

•Bellville — First Team: Matthew Wybro.

•Brazos — Second Team: Mickayla Hinze.

•La Grange — First Team: Eleanor Carey; Second Team: Kaedyn Otto.

•Rice — Second Team: Joe Luke Morales, Vic - tor Flores, Luke Engel - brecht, Jael Valles-Serrano and Taylor Eichelberger; Honorable Mention: Peter James Thompson and Blanca Molina.

•Sealy — Second Team: Addison Clark, Efrain Vil lagomez and Jacie Kainer.

•Weimar — Second Team: Aubrey Breska and Brooke Ohnheiser; Honorable Mention: Alazay Moreno.

TEAM TENNIS

•Bellville — Second Team: Caroline Poffenberg- er, Stella Oldham and Jason Wood; Honorable Mention — Alec Schumacher.

•La Grange — First Team: Eleanor Carey; Second Team: Ella Nygren; Honorable Mention: Hannah Garrison.
