Faith Academy Knights continue in the playoffs

The Faith Acade my Knights travelled to Rosehill Christian in Tomball for their first playoff game of the 2025

season.

They were matched up against Missouri City Divine Savior.

The Knights started hot in the contest.

Senior Joshua Stark scampered to the end zone from 42 yards out on the first play from

scrimmage.

The Stingrays from Divine would come back and answer the call on their first drive.

From there, the Knights would hold them from scoring again in the first half. On the second play from scrimmage, ju - nior QB Dyllan Olivares

would find senior Jackson Dunn for his first of his three TD receptions.

Faith would add two more TDs, both coming from junior Wyatt Davis on two 9-yard TD runs. Olivares would finish the contest going 9-13 passing for 179 yards and those three TDs.

The Knights would lead the Rays 31-6 at halftime.

After a few scores from Divine, the Knights would be looking for a big play to regain the momentum. This is where Olivares and Dunn would take over in the passing game. On fourth down and 11 yards, Ol - ivares would throw a jump ball under pressure, allowing Dunn to make the catch of the year, off two defenders, making a quick move, outrunning the Rays, and eventually scoring from 55 yards out.

Dunn's final score came on a fourth and goal from the 12-yard line, going up and over a defender for the Knights’ TD.

Junior center Riley Heyman would have his best blocking game of the season, not allowing one QB hurry on Oliva - res. Heyman would also add four pancake blocks. Olivares also had two key punts to flip the field.

One of which was over 55 yards, pinning the Sting rays on their own 8-yard

line. Punting is some - thing Coach Trey Carter is not known for. He nor - mally tries to take a shot downfield. But with the defense playing so well, Carter, with the help of his coaches, decided the Knights’ defense would win the game.

The Knights played fast, made many big tackles, and caused four fumbles, recovering all.

Faith also had 9 tack - les for loss, putting the Rays in many third-and- long situations.

Senior Gage Wilson continued to play at a fast pace, causing two fumbles on the Sting - rays’ QB. He would also add four tackles for loss, giving him nine tackles on the evening. Wilson would also add three passes deflected, from the pass rush position. Davis led the Knights in tack - les, with 11.5 and a sack.

Dunn added 10 tackles and a fumble recov - ery. Junior Kelton Galle would add six tackles and two fumble recover - ies. Stark and sophomore Brody August would have the tough task of covering the Stingrays’ receivers, allowing only four catches in the battle. The Knights stopped the Divine passing game and eventually took a knee, winning 46-36.

Faith Academy will move on to the second round of playoffs. They will be taking on a tough team, San Marcos Hill Country Christian, in Smithville, on Friday at 7 p.m.
