Lions in Action: Service and community come together to build a roof for Habitat Home

When Colorado Coun -

ty Habitat for Humanity (CCHFH) began construc - tion on its 32nd home in Columbus, it was a shining example of what happens when community service and compassion unite - a perfect reflection of the Lions Club motto, "We Serve." It all started when Lion Renee Lamson reached out to First Vice District Gover -

nor Steve McCullough and his wife, Lion Grace Mc - Cullough of the Columbus Lions, about the possibility of donating their time and expertise to help shingle the roof of the new Habitat home. Their collaboration quickly inspired a broader partnership: GAF agreed to donate the roofing shin - gles, ABC Supply Co. Inc., provided additional roofing materials, and American Shield Roofing and Con -

struction Inc., owned by Jon and Renee Lamson, gener - ously donated the labor.

On Nov. 6, the team came together to complete the roof for CCHFH's newest home - the future home of breast cancer survivor Kris - tina Acevedo and her three children. The day was filled with teamwork, service, and a deep sense of purpose as volunteers and professionals worked side by side to give a family a safe, solid roof over their heads.

This project reflects the Lions Club's ongoing commitment to service: a reminder that when com - munity-minded individu - als join forces, they create more than homes; they build hope, strength, and unity.

In small towns like Co - lumbus, acts of service rip - ple outward, touching lives far beyond the worksite. Thanks to the generosity of the Lamsons, McCulloughs, GAF, and ABC Supply Co., CCHFH can continue its mission of building homes, communities, and brighter futures. To learn more or to sup -
