The Columbus Garden Club November Yard of the Month was awarded to Jo Ann and Ken- neth Venghaus at 118 Burford St. in Columbus. The landscaping plants include a wide variety of classic favorites that have weathered the dry, hot late summer and early fall very well. There is something always blooming in the plant collection that includes many pollinator fa vorites such as lantana and salvia as well as bulbs, ferns, ornamental grasses, roses, and in- formal boxwood hedges punctuated with statuaries and other garden decor for whimsy and interest. To add to the inviting yard, the homeowners decorated a faux fireplace on the front porch with Thanksgiving garland and other decor.

The Columbus Garden Club November Community Beautification Award recipient was Dew - berry Cafe at 1237 Bowie St. in Columbus. The entrance always feels homey with pots of oldtimey plants like ferns with grasses, and often bright annuals. This month, a spectacular fall display was dreamed up by Robyn Adams, right, ('Mimi' to owner Matti Sprague, left) after a trip to London, where she saw elaborate garlands and displays around store entrances. The seasonal decor includes a scarecrow, aka Bridecrow, and an oversized arch framing the door created with silk flowers and leafy stems in autumn colors, baskets, gourds and pumpkins, and fun fall-themed. Congratulations on their creativity and attention to detail that create an especially welcoming entrance and for keeping potted plants and flowers year-round.
