ROUND ROCK - Katelyn Krenek, the 2025 winner of the Texas FFA Soil Stewardship Speech Con -
test, was recently invited to present her award-winning speech at the an - nual Texas Soil and Water Conserva - tion District Meeting held this year at the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock.
Krenek, a standout member of the Bellville FFA chapter, was the State Champion in the highly competitive state-level contest earlier this year and was awarded a $4,000 scholarship. The 2025 FFA soil stewardship topic was "Life Beneath Our Feet," which focused on the vital and often overlooked ecosystem within soil. This theme encouraged a deeper un - derstanding of soil as a living, dynam - ic resource and its critical role in ag - riculture, biodiversity, and the overall health of the environment. Krenek would like to credit her ag teacher, Christy Tobola, as a valuable resource in helping her prepare her speech, along with her grandfather, Kenneth Blezinger, for deepening her understanding of soil conserva -
tion practices. A lifelong steward of the land himself, Blezinger provid -
ed insight and personal experience throughout her preparation.
