Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports an ongoing scam. Someone is calling citizens of Fayette County and claiming to be from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office and saying that the person has a warrant for their arrest for a missed jury duty or unpaid tickets and trying to collect fees over the phone to get rid of the warrant.
The calls appear to come from the actual sheriff's office number because of cloning. They are using actual names of sheriff's office employees as well.
The sheriff's office will not notify anyone via phone about warrants or to collect fees. If you have any doubt about a call you receive, hang up and dial the sheriff's office directly at 979968-5856 or come to the sheriff's of
