Columbus Lady Cards off to strong start

The Columbus High School girl’s basketball team is known for not just having success, but having state tournament success under head coach Mike Albers’ watch.

Albers has had athletes, but it’s the system and culture he’s created that puts W’s in the win column for Lady Cardinals basketball.

After dropping their first game to Giddings in a 46-42 result, Columbus won their last four games in a row against Franklin, Anderson-Shiro, Marlin, and Bremond. Columbus has great guard play and can also score down low. They’re usually really good at shooting, which helps their cause. Columbus will likely be a team that makes a deep run for a state tournament bid.
