Operation Lone Star adopted by Fayette County Commissioners Court

LA GRANGE - The Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a booster shot in its efforts to combat illegal immigrants who engage in criminal activity when the Fayette County Commissioner’s Court approved an agreement with other participating agencies.

Operation Lone Star (OLS), under the direction of Governor Greg Abbott and in collaboration with the Trump Administration, works with local law enforcement to help rid their communities of dangerous drugs and other illegal activities. Lt. David Beyer said that OLS will secure additional resources to back up their lawful stance against illegal aliens who commit crimes against its citizens. Beyer said, “If we stop an illegal who is engaged in criminal activity, we will address it. We will not change our policies.”

The approximately $300,000 in federal funding will be used to provide extra resources for the sheriff's office.

“That program is going to give us an additional approximately $300,000 in federal funding and that’s going to be used for anything that the sheriff's office needs," said Deputy Cody Williams. “It’s going to be directed towards the people that are here illegally, but are engaging in organized criminal activity, smuggling narcotics, money laundering, stolen firearms, human trafficking and violent of fenses.” Deputy Cody Williams, who will head up OLS, said depu- ties will receive 40 hours of train ing in the implementation of the program.
