TOMBALL — The Columbus High School football team defeated Franklin High School for the second straight year and their third straight matchup in the playoffs Nov. 28 at Tomball ISD by a final score of 34-21.
Columbus really had the offense going later in the game and even with Frank - lin’s late surge, they were able to hold on and win by a two touchdown margin.
Top performers were quarterback Jack Schobel and running back Doc Cantu, who each had two rushing touchdowns.
Brody Vinklarek also passed for a touchdown and Rylan Carruthers caught a touchdown.
As the season has gone on, Columbus is looking more and more like they’re in state championship form once again.
Columbus will play Yoakum High School Friday, Dec. 5 at Bastrop Memorial Stadium in Bastrop with a game time of 7 pm.
