Columbus Volunteer Fire Department takes delivery
A brand-new 2,000-gallon tanker truck was recently delivered to the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department with support from a grant and community donations and fundraisers.

COLUMBUS — Columbus Volunteer Fire Department recently took delivery on its new tanker. Added to its fleet is a brand-new 2,000-gal lon tanker, built by Fouts

Brothers in La Grange and sold through Metro Fire in Houston.

The grant for this tanker was originally applied for in 2006 and a $300,000 award from the Texas A&M Forest Service, plus local donations and fundraisers.

According to the department, this new apparatus will enhance its ability to supply water on rural incidents and highway emergencies, im- prove fireground efficiency and strengthen protection for the citizens of Columbus and surrounding area.
