COLUMBUS — It is such a busy time of the year for everyone, including the garden club in Columbus.
The club began decorating the Dilue Rose-Harris and Alley Log Cabin historic homes in November. They took the fourth grade students from Columbus Elementary School and St. Anthony’s Catholic School on a tour of the historic homes on Dec. 3. The children delighted in hearing about how families celebrated and decorated for Christmastime in the 1800s. Participation in the Historic House Decorating is a project of Texas Garden Clubs.
Then, during Ladies Night Out on Thursday, Dec.
4, Columbus Garden Club member and award-winning quilter, Sharon Heimann, will be at the Live Oak Art Center with this year’s Scholarship Quilt. Stop by and purchase tickets. You may win this unique kingsize quilt. It is called ‘Vintage Inspired.” Heimann is proud to donate this quilt to the garden club scholarship fund. The club has been giving scholarships to high school students in Columbus for over 20 years.
The quilt will also be at the garden club’s Holiday Tasting Luncheon on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at The Lighthouse at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus, beginning at 10 a.m.
Members of the community, friends and family are invited to attend. Just let us know you will attend by emailing [email protected] so we can have a place for you. There will also be a silent auction and a mistletoe bag auction. The proceeds will benefit garden club projects.
