FLATONIA — The Flatonia High School boy’s basketball team had a tough game against Dime Box High School Dec. 2 at Bulldogs Gym in Flatonia and were defeated by a final score of 70-36. Dime Box’s shoot- ing and efficient offense was too much for Flatonia throughout the entire game, which was the reason the score was so lopsided.
“We’re just gonna continue to get better everyday,” said Flatonia head boy’s basketball coach Lance Giese. “We got to play better defense. We’ll get it corrected. Offensively, we had some good plays run, we just got to get better everyday. Everyday we come to practice and we get better is all we told them in there. Dime Box is a good team. They got some good shooters. I give them credit. We got to play a lot better defense as a team and then make easy shots.”
Dime Box had a big lead at halftime with a scoreboard reading 41-26, then Dime Box stretched that lead throughout the third quarter with a few threes, an and one basket, and a layup to make it 57-31 after a layup from Flatonia’s Jay- lon Anderson for the first points of the quarter.
The Longhorns kept this same kind of lead for the rest of the quarter and another layup made it 60-34 at the end of the third quarter.
Dime Box hit a three to start the fourth quarter, which was followed by a layup from the Longhorns about a minute later to put it at 65-34.
Flatonia answered with a layup of their own and as the game was way out of reach at this point, Dime Box added one more three in the last few minutes to help close out a 70-36 win.
