CEDAR CREEK — The Columbus High School football team’s run for a state title defense came to an end Dece. 5 at Bastrop ISD Memorial Stadium in Cedar Creek as they were defeated by Yoakum High School with a final score of 20-14.
Even though he still found the end zone, quarterback Jack Schobel had a more quiet game than normal with only 54 yards com bined through the air and on the ground.
Brennan Hicks had 130 yards rushing on 12 carries and Doc Cantu had 92 yards and a touchdown on 15
carries.
This team improved throughout the season and it was still a very impressive year with a lot different roster than last year.
They’ll have Schobel returning at quarterback next year, so he’ll continue to be a bright spot for the team through the air and especially on the ground as he seemed to have way more rushing yards than passing throughout the season.
The future is very bright for this team and they are most definite ly a heavy favorite for another state championship next year.
